Illuminated Guardrail

When is an illuminated handrail not a handrail? When it’s a Guardrail, of course. Guardrails have the same structural requirements as a handrail; however, they’re not subject to ADA or paths of egress compliance. Additionally, the rails must fall within a 39" to 45" AFF height, rather than a handrail’s 34" to 38" AFF height.

Our Lightrail™ Illuminated Guardrail can be based on specific 3-1/2" diameter symmetric or 4-7/8" x 3-5/16" asymmetric aluminum extrusions. They can also be completely custom designs, which might include stainless steel or bronze construction, or an extrusion specially designed to fit in a unique cap rail. Whichever the preference, the illuminated Guardrail attaches to the structural post assembly, as provided by the railing contractor.

Construction

  • Housing construction can be extruded aluminum or formed stainless steel, brass, copper or bronze. Each would have welded and blended joints for a seamless appearance

  • A high impact extruded acrylic diffuser snaps into place and is further retained by fasteners at each end

  • Each rail is tailored to fit into existing railing system structure

  • Aluminum rails are polyester powder-coated; premium material formed rails are supplied with a satin finish that is clear-coated. Other finishes are available

Electrical

  • Continuous LED illumination is available in multiple colors and performance levels

  • Power supplies can be integral or remotely located

  • cULus listed for installation in wet locations
